An unfinished course. A conversation we kept postponing. A notebook with three hopeful pages and a long silence after them.
Returning can feel awkward because we remember the person who first made the promise. They had more energy, perhaps, or a plan that seemed easier before life interrupted it. It is tempting to wait until we can become that person again.
But we can begin with what is available now. Ten minutes instead of an entire evening. One honest sentence instead of a perfect explanation. A small attempt that does not require us to pretend the interruption never happened.
Some plans deserve to change. Others are still worth returning to, even if the way back is slower than we hoped.
We do not need to announce a different life before doing one thing differently. Today can be a beginning without having to look like one.
